Take Action: Submit Public Comment: OPPOSE the proposed Amendments to Regulations on Vocational Technical Education • DEADLINE Friday April 18th
TAKE ACTION by submitting public comment: Strongly oppose the proposed amendments to the Massachusetts vocational-technical and agricultural school admissions regulations. These amendments, including the implementation of a weighted lottery system, student demonstration of interest requirements, and mandated middle school experiences, represent a fundamental shift that threatens the accessibility and integrity of our successful vocational-technical and agricultural education model. Urge the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BOE) to reject these amendments and uphold the 2021 regulations, which have proven effective in serving our students and communities. Furthermore, adamantly oppose the proposed terminology change from "vocational" to "career technical education (CTE)." This change fails to accurately reflect the comprehensive and specialized nature of our vocational-technical and agricultural high schools in Massachusetts. We call on all concerned citizens to submit public comments opposing these amendments and to demand the BOE maintain the current regulations and terminology.
