Aggie Alumni: Commitment and dedication are required for success

3/10/25

In her March 10th, 2025 public comment to the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, Bristol Aggie alumna Hope Healy addressed concerns regarding vocational school admissions, particularly the proposed lottery system. Healy emphasized that a lottery, while seemingly equitable, ultimately reduces the admissions process to mere luck, diminishing the importance of a student's demonstrated passion and aptitude. She argued that relying on chance disregards the hard work and dedication students invest in pursuing specialized vocational education. Healy specifically highlighted the limited chances of selection within a lottery system, stating that many highly motivated students would be unfairly denied access due to random selection, regardless of their qualifications.
